How To Slick Your Slicks! (Nov 26, 2009) - Don't you just hate sanding those dang slicks and tires down to a presentable quality?
I used to spend at least an hour or more doing just two rear drag slicks... Years ago I came up with a easier and faster idea.
Mount your slicks in this fashion:
Chuck them in your drill like this:
Hold a bit of 240 grit sandpaper held gently to heavy on the spinning slicks like this.
All that unwanted material will just grind away in seconds... Be careful, you don't want to melt the tires down nor injure your fingers in the process.
They will come out looking like this in just a few short minutes!
Notice that I shaved off the model kit raised letters?... This was easily done by hand sanding using that same 240 grit sandpaper then down to 400 grit then polishing out on your blue jeans or your living room carpet to get that rubber shine back.
