It's In The Future!
by Bucky

(Dec 11, 2009) -

Each and every one of us has had to deal with a scratched clear plastic 'window' in a kit at some point. They just don't care to package them safely. This handy tidbit came from the Scale Auto Magazine. I forget which issue.

Follow my method:

Here you see a bottle of Future floor shine, a plastic tub, a scratched 'window', and a clamp. Clamp the 'window' in an area that won't show on the finished model.

Submerge the 'window' completely into the tub of Future.

Pull the 'window' out of the Future and hold it at an angle so the excess liquid will drain off. Be careful not to touch the item while it is still wet, or you will leave a way to track just who did it (fingerprint!).

This is how I repaired the 'window' in Snappy. It was scratched from years of tumbling around in the box, unprotected. Pretty shiny now, huh?? I know some of you already knew of this method to fix the pesky clear plastic problem, but maybe this will help some of the younger set or the guys who are new to the hobby.

Thanks for looking!
